This year, the theme for Recycle Week is 'let's waste less...' encouraging all of us to try something new in an effort to go greener and cut back on the waste we all produce.
From recycling more of everyday items like glass and plastic bottles to reusing carrier bags or composting at home, there are lots of opportunities to promote how we can all reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.
"Recycle Week is now in its fifth year and this is the first time we'll be promoting a waste reduction message" said Jane Hall from Recycle Now. "As part of this we're encouraging people to sign up and pledge to either try something new or do more of what we already do".
Construction Photography has images that promote recycling in the home, at work and of course on the construction site. Click here to browse our recycling images.
You can find out what is happening in your area by entering your postcode on the Event finder.
Whatever pledge(s) you choose to do - your efforts really will help to make a difference. At Construction Photography we are all bringing in our left overs for lunch! Back in December 2008 we launched Cooliris functionality on our CD Store. Our customers loved it and we are planning to extend this to the main search soon.
California technology company Cooliris Inc. was founded in January 2006. The company’s core product “Cooliris” transforms a computer screen into a three-dimensional image-display wall enabling fast horizontal browsing, speeding up image search and improving the display of images from the current baseline. From an end-user perspective, Cooliris is a browser plugin that allows image-search results to be displayed as a never-ending image wall. The free plug-in can be downloaded easily from their website and launched at the click of a mouse.
Cooliris has been widely adopted by popular photo-sharing and social networking sites such as Flickr and Picasa, MySpace and Facebook. Construction Photography, now offering over 40,000 high-quality images now provides a new browsing experience for our customers. “It is fun, quick and efficient", said Owen Jones, Library Manager at Construction Photography. "It concentrates on giving the user the best visual experience possible, allowing users to view our images effectively and with no limit to the page".
Visit our CD Store to experience this technology in action.

Time Lapse Services Available

We are excited to announce the availability of time lapse services at Construction Photography. We have just launched a video of our time lapse project covering the Olympic Park in Stratford, London, using high definition cameras to record the dramatic change to the landscape.
The video shows how the editing process allows for zooming and panning, focusing on different areas of the site. We are currently taking two images every minute but this can be speeded up or slowed down to cover different events. Please contact us to find out more about time lapse photography. Construction Photography Directors Meet Workers on Ground Zero

            @Joe Woolhead

In New York to attend the Picture Archive Council of America's (PACA) annual conference, the directors of Construction Photography were given the ideal opportunity to visit the site of Ground Zero and meet the workers involved in the construction of the new towers.
Directors Lucy Moore and Jean-Francois Cardella were able to gain VIP access to Ground Zero thanks to our photographer Joe Woolhead who is documenting the entire construction for Silverstein Properties, the owners of the World Trade Centre site.
Privilege
"It was a real privilege to gain access to all areas and to be able to measure the sheer size of the project. The challenges ahead for the construction team are enormous, coupled with the obvious emotional dimension of the site," said Jean-Francois Cardella.
Once on site, other remnants of the original site were present such as the tie-backs for the South Tower and the original foundations to which they were once held. The modern port-a-cabin is now home to the pictures of all the victims of the tragedy where relatives can go and grieve and be closer to their loved ones.
Access
The directors spent about an hour pouring over plans of the new site along with the model of what it will look like in 2012, before actually gaining access. "We were in 7 WTC the new Silverstein Properties headquarters, a striking 52 storeys skyscraper adjacent to WTC, which gave us great aerial views of the site - diggers and dumpers moving earth and debris, displacing a subway station, not to mention the concrete being poured in to the foundations. One of the things that marked us the most though was the giant cross made from the original steel girders of the South Tower" said Lucy Moore.
Joe will be sending regular updates of the site and the people working on it - watch this space!

Construction Photography will be attending the 13th PACA Annual International Conference in New York 24-26 October. It is an excellent opportunity for stock industry professionals and photo agencies to meet their peers and build relationships. Since Construction Photography is constantly looking for new ideas and new products to help grow our business and serve our clients better, it is essential for a growing organisation like ours to be represented and negotiate new agreements with distributors worldwide.
"We are experiencing exponential growth from the American market, not only USA and Canada but with countries like Mexico and Brazil." explains Jean-Francois Cardella, Managing Director of Construction Photography. "We need to be able to meet this growing demand both by recruiting talented and experienced photographers for the photo assignment side of the business and by signing new contributors to our stock library. This is why the PACA conference is such an important event for us."
To arrange a meeting with us at PACA please contact us at our London offices on +44 (0) 20 7820 6200.

"I am really pleased with the look of our new website", commented Jean-Francois Cardella, Managing Director of Construction Photography. "What pleases me more is the enhanced experience our customers can expect. Hoping to unearth new creative talent from underneath the sea of emails, client deadlines and long hours we all suffer, Gardiner & Theobald's internal competition has produced a variety of entries, which have been both unusual and inspiring. Entries ranged from photographs to drawing to oil paintings, and has proved that art has its place in the working environment.
The Art & Work Awards are presented every two years for outstanding achievement in the use of art in the workplace. Previous Art & Work Awards have been won by a wide range of organisations, including Arup, BAA, Canary Wharf Group, IBM and Pfizer.
"The quality of the art was incredible." declared Jean-Francois Cardella, Managing Director of Construction Photography. "It was a really tough decision to choose just three pieces from such a high quality field, and I am sure that the winning entries will have every chance of success in the national competition. G&T should be proud that their staff posesses such undisputed artistic talent. Good luck!"
The awards will be presented at an Awards Dinner to be held in The Great Room at Christie's in London later this year.

Futurebuild
