Murrow was located on the GER/GN joint line from Lincoln to March. In this scene, looking north, it is crossed by the M&GN route and the Down goods, running east to South Lynn, is headed by Ivatt 2-6-0 No.43081, a Neasden engine. The date is 28th February 1959. In their heyday, these engines successfully worked all the M&GN line traffic ftrom Leicester and Peterborough in the west to Norwich and Yarmouth in the east. Note the BR Arp type signal-box with its thick concrete roof. These reinforcements were built in the war years to render the boxes less suseptible to aerial damage.
